Recently, the UK Government has announced that hauliers serving cultural events, music concerts and sports will be able to move their goods and vehicles freely between Great Britain, the EU and the rest of the world from late summer, 2022.

What are the upcoming changes?
Following a consultation with the UK's specialist haulier touring sector, the Government will create "Dual registration" which will enable hauliers to drive the same vehicle in GB and abroad.
For a period of 6 months, events and exhibition hauliers will be allowed to transport their vehicles between operator licences, without having to pay additional VED (Vehicle Excise Duty).
What is “Dual registration”?
Since Brexit, specialist British hauliers have been allowed a maximum of just 3 EU stops per tour.
With the new legislation, companies that have an operating base in the UK and abroad will be able to switch between the respective operator licences for their vehicles, allowing them to utilise as many internal movements as are permitted for each territory, without needing to change vehicles or pay VED in Great Britain.
When will this new legislation be implemented?
The new legislation, which has been created in consultation with businesses within the live music, sports and performing arts industries, will come into effect from late summer 2022.
According to Creative Industries Minister Julia Lopez,
"Live events are at the heart of the entertainment and sports industries, giving fans and performers unique and memorable experiences... I welcome this move, which will... make sure people across Europe have the chance to see many of their heroes on their doorstep."
