You may have heard that there are going to be some major changes within the customs sector following the 1st January 2021. This will mean that you won’t be able to conduct trade between the UK and Europe in the same way as you have been doing.

Worry not! Our good friends at CustomsLink have just launched a platform that will help you to keep trading smoothly.

What changes are happening to Customs?

Currently we are in the UK Transition period. We officially left the European Union on the 31st January 2020 and have until midnight on the 31st December 2020 to agree upon a withdrawal agreement with the EU. Whatever the outcome of the withdrawal agreement, we know that everyone transporting goods between the UK and EU (and vice versa) will need to submit customs declarations.

What is a Customs Declaration?

A customs declaration, also referred to as a C88, is used to measure the value of the goods being transported. This means that the customs tax (also known as customs duties) will be able to be calculated.
